3….2…..1……BLAST OFF!!!!

Last Friday, Junior Infants were very busy designing and making rockets. They constructed them from different materials such as insulating pipe covers, card, duct tape and elastics. They also decorated them with colourful stickers. They had great fun launching the rockets in the front yard from both their hands and a metre stick. Older classes were invited outside to view the blast off! We then had a competition to see who’s rocket traveled the furthest and measured the distance using strides. Our scientific work even made our News Copies!

Planting Cress Seeds

Last week, Junior Infants carried out an experiment: ‘Will Seeds Grow Without Light?’. One set of seeds received light and water whilst the other set was placed in a dark cupboard with water. They discovered that the set that got both light and water grew the best and were green. The other set grew a little but were yellow and not very healthy looking. Well done to our Junior Scientists!

Christmas Play 2017

Last Friday we were treated to a wonderful performance from our Junior & Senior Infants acting out ‘The Nativity’ and 1st & 2nd Class performing ‘The Christmas Carol’. Great singing and acting from everybody involved. Well done to all of our students!

Junior Infants Trip to Coole Park

Junior Infants had great fun on their trip to Coole Park where they met up with a guide who showed them all different aspects of nature to be found there.

Liam McCarthy visits Crumlin!!!

There was great excitement in our school when Galway players Brian and Paul Flaherty brought the Liam McCarthy along with the Bob O’Keefe, Irish Press and National League Cups to our school. It was a great visit and huge thanks to all involved for organising the special occasion. The players were happy to answer all the children’s questions and sign lots of hurls, jerseys and sliotars! Let’s hope we’ll see Liam again many more times in our school!

Maths Day Parade!

Once again this year we had a very enjoyable Maths Fashion Parade! Well done to all who made a huge effort and produced amazing outfits for the day!

Teddy Bear Hospital

Junior and Senior Infants had a great day out at the Teddy Bear Hospital.  All the children loved bringing their sick teddies into UCG to be seen by doctors at the Teddy Bear Hospital.   They were really excited when the bus pulled up outside the school and the excitement didn’t stop there.  Teddies were seen by doctors, x-rayed, stitched and some even had MRI scans.  Once the teddies were all sorted the children got to enjoy bouncy castles, face painting and some fruit in the “Pharmacy”.  It was a great day out!

Christmas Play

Welcome back after the Christmas break.  We hope you had a happy Christmas.  Before the school finished up, Junior Infants to Second Class held a very successful concert ‘The Xmas Factor’.  All the students worked extremely hard in the lead up to the play and it showed on the day.  All of the classes performed their songs/poems brilliantly.  The judges showed off their acting skills with great gusto.  It proved to be a very successful and funny play, which children, teachers and parents enjoyed.  We would also like to say a special thank you to the Parent’s Association for organizing the raffle, raffle prizes and doing the coffee and tea.

Here are a few pictures of our show.  Enjoy:-)
