Magnets

Last January, Senior Infants and First Class were busy learning all about Magnetism. We carried out our investigations using various classroom items and categorised them into magnetic and non-magnetic. We learned that a magnet has polar ends (Norths & South) and that opposites attract.

Making some snow clay

Seniors and First used cornflour and body lotion to create some snow clay.  They investigated how the feel and function of the clay changed as more body lotion was added.

Maths Week

Some pictures enjoying our maths station games during maths week.

Space Fun!

Senior Infants & First really enjoyed the theme of space.  We had great time learning all about the sun, moon, gravity and planets. Great fun was had during our Aistear time to explore the theme even more.  To settle our inquisitive minds a few experiments were carried out to find out more information on gravity and meteorites.  First Class ended the topic by creating some fabulous projects on their favourite planet.

Christmas Play 2017

Last Friday we were treated to a wonderful performance from our Junior & Senior Infants acting out ‘The Nativity’ and 1st & 2nd Class performing ‘The Christmas Carol’. Great singing and acting from everybody involved. Well done to all of our students!

Liam McCarthy visits Crumlin!!!

There was great excitement in our school when Galway players Brian and Paul Flaherty brought the Liam McCarthy along with the Bob O’Keefe, Irish Press and National League Cups to our school. It was a great visit and huge thanks to all involved for organising the special occasion. The players were happy to answer all the children’s questions and sign lots of hurls, jerseys and sliotars! Let’s hope we’ll see Liam again many more times in our school!

Maths Day Parade!

Heart & Lung Dissection!!

Brady’s Butchers in Athenry kindly gave Ms.Murphy a cow’s heart and lungs for us to observe and dissect! It was an eye opening experience for everyone and a lot of the children found it hard to believe that our hearts actually do look like a cow’s heart!

Visitor from Brigid’s Garden

On Thursday the 5th of October, Will Softly (in association with SEAI) visited us from Brigid’s Garden and held workshops with Senior Infants, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

Will informed the students of the various renewable and non-renewable sources of energy and had lots of fun with the pupils through games, puppets and dress-up. He gave us some great energy saving tips.

Will also demonstrated how chemical energy can be converted into electrical energy using apples!

Thanks Will for a great day!
