Junior Infants Trip to Coole Park

Junior Infants had great fun on their trip to Coole Park where they met up with a guide who showed them all different aspects of nature to be found there.

Junior Infants First Day of School

Some pictures of Junior Infants on their first day of big school đŸ™‚

S.A.P Visit to Crumlin!

A huge thank you to Dave Ryan and his colleagues Maeve & Rebecca from S.A.P. who came to school today and spoke about Computer Science & Design Process to the children. 3rd & 4th class created remote control cars. 5th & 6th worked in teams to design and create bridges made from just straws and sellotape. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all and showcased the skills and thought processes needed for differing careers.

Liam McCarthy visits Crumlin!!!

There was great excitement in our school when Galway players Brian and Paul Flaherty brought the Liam McCarthy along with the Bob O’Keefe, Irish Press and National League Cups to our school. It was a great visit and huge thanks to all involved for organising the special occasion. The players were happy to answer all the children’s questions and sign lots of hurls, jerseys and sliotars! Let’s hope we’ll see Liam again many more times in our school!

Halloween Art!

5th & 6th showed their creative flair with the clay witches they created for Halloween, each one as unique as the children who created them:-).

Science in 5th & 6th

In 5th & 6th we have learnt about the solubility of different substances such as salt, sugar and baking powder and the effect heat has on their solubility. We also discovered the reaction when you mix vinegar with baking soda which creates CO2 and caused our balloon to rise!

Maths Day Parade!

Once again this year we had a very enjoyable Maths Fashion Parade! Well done to all who made a huge effort and produced amazing outfits for the day!

A huge thank you to Peter O’Hara from Monivea Rugby Club and Connacht Rugby who taught 5th & 6th class rugby skills over the last number of weeks. We are lucky to have Peter with us for the year and he will be taking different classes at different times during the year. 5th & 6th thoroughly enjoyed their coaching sessions with Peter.

Heart & Lung Dissection!!

Brady’s Butchers in Athenry kindly gave Ms.Murphy a cow’s heart and lungs for us to observe and dissect! It was an eye opening experience for everyone and a lot of the children found it hard to believe that our hearts actually do look like a cow’s heart!

BaborĂ³ Outing

Yesterday 3rd Class attended the BaborĂ³ production of Bounce in the Black Box Theatre. Well done to Aoife Shanley who won the tickets for her and her class through the Galway Water Colouring Competition. The class had a wonderful day out and thoroughly enjoyed the show!
