Children from 2nd to 6th were split up into groups and teams. 5th & 6th class boys then set up a league, refereed all the matches and kept an eye on scores and goal differences!!

Well done to everyone and congratulations to France who were the winners in the end!!

Turas Scoile- Rang a 3 go 6!

This year 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th class went to Dublin on our school tour! We went to Glasnevin cemetery where lots of famous Irish people are buried. The tour was very informative and full of Irish history and trivia. Afterwards we headed to GAA headquarters Croke Park! We had a guided tour of the stadium, the dressing rooms, the warm up rooms and the media centre. The highlight was running out towards the pitch with the cheers of the crowd ringing out over the speakers! We then went to the museum where there were lots of interactive games. We finished off the day with some shopping in Liffey Valley Centre. An action packed, fun day was had by all.

Scratch Workshop

Many thanks to Brendan Smith from NUIG who came to our school today to give 5th and 6th a Scratch Workshop. Here’s a brief description on what Scratch is ….

Scratch is a programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically.

The class had a brilliant time learning how to code and create games. The day changed many of the children’s views on coding and they expressed an interest in learning more about it as coding turned out to be a lot more fun than what they originally thought it would be!

Basketball Blitz

On May 26th, 5th and 6th class took part in a basketball blitz organised by NUIG and Basketball Ireland. It was a fantastic day of fun and sport that saw children from various schools in Galway coming together to learn and improve their basketball skills but mostly it was a day of encouraging children to take part and be active!

Junior and Senior Infants School Tour

Junior and Senior Infants went on an amazing school tour to the Burren Nature Sanctuary on Friday 1st June.  The sun was shining down on us and the children thoroughly enjoyed the day.  They got to eat lunch in a tepee, see a disappearing lake, wonder through the Fairee Wood (very quietly so we didn’t wake up the fairy’s), feed the baby goats and have great fun playing in the outdoor and indoor play areas.  Enjoy the photos’s 🙂
