Green Schools Walkabilty Audit

Over the next two years C.N.S. are working on achieving the Green Flag for Travel. Yesterday, Ray Foley (Green Schools Travel Coordinator) from An Taisce visited our school. He took Rang 2 and the Green Schools Committee to complete a Walkability Audit. Here, the children has to assess the roads near the school to see how suitable they are for walking. The pupils also had the task of identifying problems or risks with the nearby roads, taking a traffic tally and measuring distances using a trundle wheel.

With the help of the children, Ray compiled a report noting potholes and large verges as our main areas of concern. Ray will forward this report to the County Council which will hopefully make the roads leading to our school more safe and suitable for walking.
