Water Flag Action Day

We had our Action Day today as part of our Water Flag application.

Well done to all who made an effort to walk and cycle to school. The whole school participated in a Spring clean around the school and collected all the litter here and along the road from Crumlin Bridge to the crossroads.

Junior Infants had great fun with their water experiments. 3rd & 4th class went on a walk to discover old wells such as Tobar Eibhlin and where old water pumps used to be. 5th and 6th took part in a Walk for Water where they walked 5km with 5litres on their backs to experience what children in Ethiopia do on a daily basis to collect water. We ended the day by visiting Ms. Murphy’s class where children presented many different water based experiments that they had learned throughout the year.

Thanks to Mrs. Molloy & Ms. Murphy, our Green School co-ordinators and our Green School committee for all their hard work. We wait in hope for our new Water Flag……. keep up the good work CNS!!

Green-Schools Water Forum 2015

Today, some members of our Green-Schools Committee were invited to attend a Green-Schools Water Forum in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill organised by An Taisce. Children had the opportunity to showcase how their school has conserved water and shared ideas with other schools. Our Committee members got  to take part in various activities such as a treasure hunt, designing their perfect water school and presenting their own school’s action plan for achieving the Water Flag. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day, thanks to An Taisce.

Inland Fisheries Ireland Visitor

Thanks to Kevin Crowley from Inland Fisheries Ireland, who visited the school on Tuesday (03.03.05) as part of our Water Flag Application.
